Community Guidelines
Our Commitment
Data Compass aims to be the most reliable and open platform for professionals to explore career opportunities, research organizations, and connect with our community of data professionals. Our Community Guidelines and moderation policies are designed to comply with applicable laws across all international markets where Data Compass operates.
Privacy & Expression
We uphold the principles of privacy and freedom of expression—every individual deserves the right to share their perspective and be heard without fear of retaliation, suppression, or unwanted attention.
Content Integrity
We maintain the integrity of all submitted content by never modifying or altering user submissions.
Balanced Content Policy
We maintain objectivity by never filtering, removing, or suppressing content based solely on whether it is negative/low-rated or positive/high-rated.
Leadership Commentary
We permit content that references individuals in senior leadership positions who significantly influence the work environment, provided the content discusses their professional conduct or performance. This includes C-level executives, Executive Directors, Presidents, Owners, and Founders who represent the organization publicly. We believe this information reflects organizational culture and provides valuable insights for job seekers. We do not allow negative comments about identifiable employees outside of these senior positions.
Proactive Moderation
Through collaboration with our community, we actively monitor content and take action against users who violate our community guidelines or compromise the professional nature of our platform.
Data Compass's Impartiality
Data Compass serves as an impartial platform for user-submitted content. We cannot arbitrate disputes regarding facts or opinions between our users and their current or former employers. We are not privy to the actual events or truth of the matter. Therefore, we restrict our moderation to ensuring compliance with these Guidelines. We maintain neutrality in all disputes; we do not take positions or serve as fact-finders when reviewing content.
Content Review Standards
We implement consistent review standards across all content, regardless of whether it involves a Data Compass client or not.
Account Authentication
We require users to verify their accounts through an email address associated with their employer.
Content Review Process
Our content review follows a dual-stage process. The initial review utilizes advanced technology that evaluates multiple content parameters. Content that doesn't pass this technological assessment undergoes review by our human moderation team to ensure compliance with our guidelines. Additionally, content flagged by users undergoes secondary review by human moderators.
Guidelines

Do not post content that is hostile, offensive, or targets individuals in a way that is harmful or intentionally disrespectful.
Directed Harassment
Directed harassment involves intentional behavior aimed at humiliating or demeaning an individual or group.
Inappropriate Content
Do not distribute or post unwanted sexual content or sexually objectify any individual without their explicit consent.
Hostile Language
Do not use hostile language or profanity to target others. We particularly monitor patterns of hostile language or profanity, especially when used to intimidate or harass. While certain terms may be considered offensive, we may not act on every instance of potentially offensive language.
Discriminatory Content
Do not engage in direct attacks against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious medical condition.
Safety Issues
If you encounter content suggesting a community member may pose a risk to themselves or others, please alert us immediately.
Threats of Violence
Do not make threats of physical harm against others, including threats of death, torture, sexual assault, or any other form of physical violence or property damage.
Expressions of Harm
Do not express desires or hopes for others to experience harm. This includes wishing death, illness, accidents, or other harmful circumstances upon others.
Promotion of Violence
Do not encourage or advocate for others to commit violent acts or cause harm, including encouraging self-harm or inciting others to commit serious crimes such as crimes against humanity, war crimes, or genocide. This includes using subtle language or coded messages to indirectly promote violence.
Celebration of Violence
Do not celebrate or praise instances of violence where harm occurred, including expressing gratitude for others' injuries or praising violent organizations. This extends to celebrating animal cruelty.
Discriminatory Language
Do not use derogatory terms or harmful stereotypes. Derogatory terms are words used to demean specific groups. A harmful stereotype is an unfounded generalization about a specific group that causes offense.
False Information
Do not post false or misleading information on our platform.
Disruptive Behavior
Do not post provocative statements intended to derail discussions or disrupt community engagement.
Privacy Protection
Unless posting with your real identity in our Community feature, maintain anonymity in your posts. Do not reveal another user's or non-executive's identity without their permission or justification. Creating hostile environments by exposing personal or confidential information is prohibited.
Identity Misrepresentation
Do not deliberately impersonate another person, living or deceased, on our platform.
Confidential Information
Do not disclose private, non-public internal organizational information. This includes: merger and acquisition details, proprietary code, client information, production methods, research and development activities, financial data, budgets, and technical expertise.
Irrelevant Content
Do not post content promoting unrelated products or services, job referrals, duplicate content, or overly personal information lacking professional context. We will remove any content determined to be promotional in nature.
Enforcement
We maintain discretion to take the following actions
Any user can report content through our platform. The content shared represents individual and highly subjective viewpoints. These opinions belong to our users, not Data Compass. Based on circumstances, we reserve the right to:
- Notify users when their content has been flagged.
- Remove or limit visibility of content that violates our Community Guidelines.
- Issue temporary or permanent account restrictions. Restrictions may be indefinite or time-limited based on violation severity or frequency. Serious violations or repeated infractions may result in permanent or indefinite restrictions.
- Remove access to the Community or specific groups.
Handling of "false and defamatory" content
Data Compass AI maintains neutrality in factual disputes. Our reviewers affirm their content reflects genuine experiences and accept responsibility for their posts. When contacted by you or your legal representatives regarding allegedly false and defamatory content, we cannot determine credibility. Unless other guideline violations are found, we allow users to stand by their reviews. If we can independently verify a review's inaccuracy through reliable sources (such as established news outlets), we will remove it. However, please understand that we function as a neutral platform for user content, not a news organization. We do not investigate or verify individual review statements. If you offer supporting evidence, we must respectfully decline review. We are not equipped to evaluate the accuracy, completeness, or authenticity of evidence from parties interested in content removal. Please note that content decisions remain at our sole discretion and are not subject to negotiation.
